Our School Crest was designed by an art teacher of Diocesan School. The crest is blue in color. The crucifix, which symbolizes salvation and redemption, represents Jesus Christ’s saving us from our sins. On one hand, the crown of thorns which surrounds the crucifix symbolizes the unconditional love of Jesus Christ; on the other hand, it signifies our affiliation with the parish of the Crown of Thorns Church. The waves below the crucifix and the crown of thorns denote our close relationship with all those who live in the proximity of the Shing Mun Reservoir where the school is located. They also represent the flowing water of life, resonating with our school motto, ‘take of the water of life freely’. This verse is recorded in the Book of Revelation, chapter 22, section 17.
Our school is run by the Anglican Church of Hong Kong. Based on Christ’s spirit and teaching, our school endeavors to achieve an all-round education.
‘Water’ symbolizes ‘cleanliness’, ‘vitality’ and ‘life’. It is vital to the human survival. Without it, lives wither, wilt and wane.
Aqua vita reflects spiritual vigor in the mental world. Pursuing the true essence of life unremittingly, human beings can enrich their thinking and souls. They can also lead a more intellectual and meaningful life, survive all kinds of situations and uphold a high quality of virtue.
In religious perspective, God is the root of knowledge and wisdom. For the sake of love, God creates humanity in His own form. If human beings can comply with the words of God, believe in God and connect with the origin of life, they can seek the true meaning and value of life. They can also obtain the strength to overcome various predicaments and difficulties. Since the words of God are like the flowing water of life, they allow human beings to lead a promising life, exhibit the virtue of philanthropy and induce nobility.
It is hoped that students in our school can be diligent, industrious, investigative and kindhearted; while also treasuring the secondary school life and leading a meaningful life by contributing to society and bringing glory to God.
Jesus said, ‘Whoever takes the water I give him will never be in need of drink again; for the water I give him will become in him a fountain of eternal life.’
